Ontra Mobility and Longwood Collective Launch Commuter App

BOSTON, MANovember 5, 2025 – Ontra Mobility and the Longwood Collective, the chief planner and principal stewards of the Longwood Medical and Academic Area (LMA) in Boston, announce the launch of a new multi-modal trip planning app designed to enhance the commute for LMA employees and students. The initiative stems from comprehensive survey results revealing a strong need among Longwood commuters for a connected, real-time trip planning solution. The survey indicated that 66% of participants would benefit from an app to improve their commute, and 75% emphasized the need for real-time arrival information.
Longwood Commutes brings LMA Shuttle, MBTA, and Bluebikes information together in a single platform so commuters can plan and navigate multi-modal trips. With real-time vehicle tracking and up-to-date LMA Shuttle, MBTA train and bus arrivals, the app identifies the best integrated route and guides users through their journey. Built in collaboration with Ontra Mobility, the experience is tailored to the needs of the LMA community.
Previously, Longwood commuters relied on multiple apps to piece together LMA Shuttle, MBTA, and bike-share information. With Ontra Mobility, all of these services are combined in one app for a unified, real-time experience.
The Longwood Commutes app helps open the door to multi-modal transit for more commuters, inviting this community to take advantage of all the transportation options that are available in and around the LMA, helping commuters discover more sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective transit alternatives.

Ontra Mobility collaborated closely with the Longwood Collective to develop an app specifically tailored to the unique needs of Longwood commuters. Through robust beta testing and extensive meetings with stakeholders and test users, Ontra ensured the app's smooth operation and incorporated valuable commuter feedback for an optimized user experience.
